Regions

Purpose 

SBC supports Regions to restrict real-time rover access to predefined working areas.

Regional restriction is assigned to an Articles during its creation or modification. The restriction affects all data streams that are configured as Products | GNSS Spider on the GNSS Spider Network Server and that are assigned to this article.

Both simple and multi-polygon formats are supported. The multi-polygon feature adds greater flexibility, allowing one to configure sophisticated regions with enclaves or exclaves or accommodate countries with numerous islands.

The region overview table includes the Status, Region Name, and Description. 

Create Region 

There are two ways to create regions and make them available in SBC. Both are initiated using the “+ Add region” button at the top right of the Regions overview page:

• Graphical definition: Use the map view and define a polygon just by clicking to map. The number of points is not limited. The shape must be closed-ended.

• Import existing KML files: Polygons that are perhaps defined in Google Maps or GIS applications can be imported to SBC. The number of points is not limited. The shape must be closed-ended.

Those regions are displayed in the regions map view.

View and Update Region

By clicking the “View“ icon, you can see the details of the region. There is also an "Articles" tab listing all articles using this region.

The shape of existing regions can only be modified by: 

• Uploading a new KML file, or 

• Drawing a new polygon. 

Other properties can be modified at any time.

Delete Region

Regions can be deleted only if they are not assigned to any article. 

To delete a region with dependencies, first remove the region from the associated articles.
