Purpose
The getting started section provides a series of quick tours to learn how to use the Spider Business Center (SBC). They are laid out in a specific order to increase efficiency for administrators.
Use these workflows to learn how to use and administer the SBC.
Quick Tours
Access SBC for the first time and change the default user
For security reasons it is recommended to change the default system administrator password after starting SBC for the first time (assuming the account has been created by a person other than the actual admin) and to add a valid email address.
It is very important that the new login details are kept in a safe place. If you forget the system administrator user name and password and you did not enter a valid email address, you must contact your Leica Geosystems support representative.
Follow these steps to access SBC for the first time and change the default system administrator details.
|
Step |
Description |
|---|---|
|
1 |
When accessing SBC for the first time, the default administrator user account that was created during the installation process must be used. This account has the role System Admin, which gives full access to all functionality. |
|
2 |
Log in using the user name and password.
|
|
3 |
Go to Service Data > Users. |
|
4 |
Select the default user and select Edit (pencil icon). |
|
5 |
Enter the new and full administrator details. Make sure the entered email address is valid. |
|
6 |
Press Save to store all changes. |
Configure application settings
The SBC customisation allows you to set general SBC properties used to access and reference your SBC installation, to enable email communication and define the terms of use and privacy documentation.
It is recommended to configure a Frontend URL. Make sure that the URL is registered, publicly available and correctly mapped to your IP address.

|
2 |
Go to Settings > System. |
|

4 |
Enter a support email address. This should be a valid email address. Ideally, the inbox of this address is watched by a group of people to never miss any notifications. |
|
5 |
Enable Enable user sign up if you want new users to register themselves. This setting will be used in the following Quick Tours. |

|
Step |
Description |
|---|---|
|
1 |
Log in as System Admin. |
|
2 |
Go to Settings > Sign Up. |
|

|
7 |
Select the Status as Public, if the new entry should be shown in the user registration form. Else, the field will only appear to the administrator when viewing account details or editing a user account. When editing a user account, the administrator can then enter and save information related to the user account that cannot be seen by the user themselves. |
|
8 |
Enable the Mandatory field if the user shall be required to provide this information with his registration. The registration form cannot be completed without this field. |

When new users register to SBC their status will be shown as Pending. Their status will automatically change to Active, when they execute the activation link sent with the registration confirmation email.
