Menu

Purpose

This page lets administrators add custom menu entries to the SBC web portal. Administrators can add important URLs to the sidebar or footer menus, giving users direct access through SBC.

Such menu entries can be legal requirements like an imprint or privacy notice.

As administrator, you are responsible for configuring only trustworthy URLs as menu entries.

Overview

The Menu page shows all customised menu entries. You can edit, reorder, or delete them. Select “+ Add menu” to configure a new entry by specifying its URL, label, and visibility.

By default no custom menu entries exist.

Standard menu entries of SBC cannot be modified.

The following paramaters can be defined:

Parameter

Description

Order

Defines the order in which the menu items appear in the sidebar (top to bottom) or footer (left to right).

Status

Defines whether the configured menu item is published (i.e. active and visible) or temporarily hidden. Delete the item if it is not required anymore.

Label

The label text that is displayed for the menu entry.

URL

The target URL to which the menu entry will point.

Only secure links starting with https are supported.

Icon

The icon that will be shown together with the label in the menu.

Select one from the list that uses the same style as the other icons within SBC.

Open in

Defines where the content of the target URL will be opened and presented to the user:

  • Open in new tab: The link will be opened in a new browser tab. This is the default and recommended option.

  • Embedded in SBC: The link will be opened embedded in SBC as the main window content.

Use “Embedded in SBC” only for web content you fully control and trust. Do not use it for external content. You are responsible for configuring only trustworthy URLs as menu entries.

Appearance

Defines where the entry will be shown:

  • Footer: Will be shown at the bottom of the left sidebar on private pages (i.e. after the user logged in) resp. at the bottom of the public page (i.e. the welcome page any guest visitor can see).

  • Sidebar: Will be shown at the bottom of all standard menu entries in the main sidebar on the left-hand side.

Audience

Defines who will see the menu entry:

  • Guests: The entry will be shown on the public welcome page without the need to log in. Only footer appearance is supported.

  • Users: The entry will be shown to all users after login to SBC.

  • Admins: The entry will be shown to all roles with permission to Admin Portal after their login to SBC.
